Navigating Nonpartisan Advocacy in the 2018 Election
Election Season is in Full Swing
The November midterm election is fast approaching and there are a number of ways for you and your program to get involved while still being nonpartisan! One of the easiest ways to increase your civic engagement during the election season is to make sure your community’s voice is heard on Election Day by registering folks to vote.
Voter Registration
While voter registration laws differ from state to state, you can find some universal guidelines for you, your staff and your parents to follow. You can also find tips and ideas for how to hold a voter registration drive.
Get Out The Vote (GOTV)
You’ve worked really hard to get folks in your community registered to vote and the deadline to register has passed. Now, it’s time to get out the vote! Check out these resources to find out how you can get involved. For example, help people in your community make a voting plan. Do they know where their polling place is? What hours is the polling place open? How are they planning to get to the polling place? Being able to answer these questions ahead of time increases the likelihood of folks actually casting their ballots on Election Day!
